The Building Consultancy received a brief to carry out a significant refurbishment of an iconic 1960’s Cork City office building with a strong and historic back story. The project comprised the major fit out, refurbishment works, M & E installation works and structural works to the fifth, fourth, third, second, first floor levels, stairwells and sanitary facilities at 1 South Mall, Cork. The works had to be carried out while the ground floor tenant remained in occupation for the duration of the project.
The project was carried out over a 12-month period. The fifth to first floor levels were completely stripped out and returned to shell and core status, including the stairwells and sanitary facilities. All office areas were then fitted out with a Landlord Cat A Fit Out with a new quality Landlord specification, LED lighting, air conditioning and lift access. The common areas were completed with a high modern standard finish throughout.
The project at No 1 South Mall provided a significant upgrade to an iconic building in Cork City with a prestigious office address. The works allowed the office to appeal to the office market with an excellent example of how a refurbishment and modernised purpose-built office building could appeal to modern occupiers in a city centre location.
